CHERRY VARIETY: BING

  • Bing is the leading sweet cherry variety in the United States

  • Firm, juicy, deep mahogany red, and intensely sweet

  • Exceptionally large fruit of the finest quality

  • Called the King of Cherry

  • The Bing cherry was developed in the 1870s by horticulturalist Seth Lewelling and his Chinese foreman Ah Bing, for whom the variety was named after.

CHERRY VARIETY: BROOKS

  • Developed at UC Davis

  • The first variety to ripe in California & Washington

  • Red Cherry Variety with well balanced sweetness

  • Large, firm and low acidity

  • Susceptibility to moisture cracking

  • Best suited for hot dry climates

CHERRY VARIETY: CHELAN

  • One of the first varieties to be harvested in Washing and Oregon state each summer

  • Firm, round, and heart-shaped

  • A mahogany red skin and sweet flavor

  • Born in 1971 by Washington State University researcher Tom Toyama

CHERRY VARIETY: CORAL CHAMPAGNE

  • Matures in the early season

  • Firm, juicy flesh, pink-red skin, and low acid

  • A sweet flavor similar to Bing

  • Susceptibility to rain-crack

  • The parentage of this variety is not known

CHERRY VARIETY: GARNET

  • Garnet is a large cherry with excellent flavor

  • This variety produces uniformly red cherries with glassy exterior and short stems

  • Introduced by California breeder Marvin Nies

  • Garnet cherries are available from Stemilt in May

CHERRY VARIETY: KORDIA

  • This new and delicious variety is becoming very popular in Northwest orchards.

  • This variety is very rare. The volume for exporting is limited.

  • Kordia is prized for its heavy crops of very sweet, juicy, large and jet-black fruit

  • Available July - August

CHERRY VARIETY: LAPIN

  • Newer varieties, mahogany red, and excellent firmness and flavor

  • Northwest Cherries mature ten days to two weeks after Bing

  • Named after Dr. Karl Lapins, a pioneer in cherry breeding

CHERRY VARIETY: RAINER

  • Premier cherry with distinctive and superior look

  • Exceptionally large, firm and texture

  • Yellow with bright red blush. Flesh is pure yellow

  • Extraordinary sugar levels

CHERRY VARIETY: ROYAL HAZEL

  • Highly flavorful and very firm red flesh

  • An excellent sweet and acid flavor

CHERRY VARIETY: SKEENA

  • Have a deep mahogany color and sweet flavor with lower acid levels than other dark-sweet cherry varieties

  • Skeena is a late-harvesting cherry variety that is available in mid-July from Washington and Oregon state.

CHERRY VARIETY: STACCATO

  • A late-ripening and super-sweet cherry variety

  • Staccato is harvested in the middle of August in Washington state

  • Stemilt holds the exclusive rights to grow and market this variety in the United States.

CHERRY VARIETY: SWEETHEART

  • Like their name implies, Sweetheart cherries are heart-shaped.

  • Large, bright, and outstanding firmness

  • Known for having high sugar levels

  • Are available from mid-July to mid-August from Washington and Oregon state

CHERRY VARIETY: TULARE

  • The second commercial variety to mature in the California harvest.

  • A large dark-red sweet cherry similar to Bing.

  • Not as firm as the Bing cherry

  • Known to be great for export with its resistance to cracking.
